About Srishti
I tell stories that connect people — whether through radio, print, or digital.
Right now, I’m an intern with The California Report Magazine at KQED, the Bay Area’s NPR affiliate, where I work on longform human interest features. I also help strengthen the local news ecosystem as a specialist with the News Revenue Hub, supporting independent newsrooms across the country.
My reporting has appeared in NPR, Solving Sacramento, The Sacramento Observer, East Palo Alto Today, and more. Most recently, I covered education for CapRadio as a Report for America corps member, focusing on issues shaping communities of color in Sacramento. Before that, I served as managing editor of India Currents, a nonprofit magazine where I explored immigration, cultural identity, and health in the South Asian community.
I first stepped into journalism as a Public Allies Fellow at East Palo Alto Today, chronicling the human cost of gentrification in a city overrun by tech influence. Since then, my work has earned recognition from the San Francisco Press Club and the California News Publishers Association.
Before journalism, I worked in the biological sciences, researching evolution, neuroscience, and drug delivery — an early training in curiosity, precision, and asking the right questions.

The group is a supportive space for all fourth through sixth graders in Elk Grove Unified, including LGBTQ+ students and those who accept and advocate for them. Some parents and conservative groups have asked the district to suspend the clubs.
In the last five years, the number of unhoused youth has doubled in Sacramento County. The Creation District makes artistic pursuits a reality for young people without shelter, and subsequently combats the stigma around being unhoused.
The incremental loss of arts education since the 1980s has impacted communities of color. With new arts education funding in the state budget, advocates say the conversation should encompass culturally reflective programming.
The Black Parallel School Board is a nonprofit founded in 2008 to address systemic inequities affecting Black students. In 2019, the organization sued SCUSD, alleging that Black students with disabilities were being disproportionately disciplined.
