About Rob
Much of the focus of my career has been producing, composing, and engineering music. I’ve worked on productions ranging from albums for musical artists to composing and creating ads for companies such as USA Network, Coca-Cola, and Turner. I even composed a Led Zeppelin knock-off for an “Almost Famous” promo for TBS!
For the past twelve years, my work has included mixing a television show for Tyler Perry, overdubbing and mixing English dialog for foreign films, as well as audio restoration for movie licensing company Kino/Lorber. Most recently I have done recording, editing, scoring, sound design, and mixing for three seasons of long-form dramatic podcasts for iHeart Radio.
For over twenty years I have been using Pro Tools and am well versed in many other audio software including Izotope RX.
Rob's Portfolio
A sampler of music from the soundtrack I composed for the silent movie 11 P.M. from the Kino Lorber collection Pioneers of African American Cinema
A sampler of music I did for the Control Group dramatic thriller from Bret Wood on iHeart Media
A work of fiction inspired by actual events, The Control Group dramatizes the CIA’s funding of mind-control experiments through a shadow organization, as well as its more nefarious covert drug operations. Crew: A production of HowStuffWorks. Written and directed by Bret Wood. Sound recorded and mixed by Rob Gal. Music by Rob Gal.
In season two of THE CONTROL GROUP (Civil Defense), the airwaves are filled with announcements of a nuclear attack on the United States. As panic threatens the community of New Canaan, a woman tries to protect her daughter from both the atomic and the human dangers that surround them. Woven throughout the story are fragments of “Quasar-1,” an animated children’s television program about a space pilot assigned to protect a distant planet from self-destruction. Crew: A production of iHeartMedia. Written and directed by Bret Wood. Sound recorded and mixed by Rob Gal. Music by Rob Gal.
From the creator of The Control Group comes a story that is both a bittersweet coming-of-age story and a diabolical revenge thriller, bound together by cinematic sound design and an intoxicating tapestry of original and traditional music, providing a kaleidoscopic tour from street-corner medicine shows to vaudeville amusement halls of the era. Crew: A production of iHeartMedia. Written and directed by Bret Wood. Sound recorded and mixed by Rob Gal. Music by Rob Gal.
