About Lyric
Lyric Bowditch is a Podcast and Live Event Producer at the iDeas Lab at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. With a focus on storytelling, Lyric also offers independent podcast/live event consulting, development, and production services. Forthcoming projects include an interview series on election trust research for the University of California San Diego, an audio documentary for BBC Radio 4, and a narrative limited series that placed runner-up in RESONATE’s 2025 Pitch Party competition.
Previously, Lyric served as the Executive Producer of House of SpeakEasy, where she led the team behind the critically-acclaimed literary live storytelling show Seriously Entertaining, including two co-productions with The New Yorker. Other prior freelance roles include executive producer of the World Monuments Fund 60th Anniversary Summit, producer for the podcasts HISTORY This Week and The Messy Parts, and scriptwriter for National Park After Dark.
Lyric spent four years as a full-time staffer at the Freakonomics Radio Network, where she produced both weekly conversation podcasts and multi-voice narrative shows, including No Stupid Questions and People I (Mostly) Admire. She developped the Freakonomics limited series Off Leash — which was “highly recommended” by The New Yorker and one of CBC Radio’s “best podcasts of 2022.” She also served as the Freakonomics Radio Network’s video editor.
Originally from Baltimore, Lyric grew up in Cairo, Egypt (2006-2016) and now lives in Brooklyn, NY. She earned a B.A. in English/French comparative literature and a minor in computer science from Barnard College in New York City, where she served as editor of the Columbia Daily Spectator’s long-form magazine The Eye.

Freelance producer for The Messy Parts Podcast — a weekly podcast by Maryam Banikarim where successful leaders share the twists, turns, and pivots that shape their uneven journeys. Helped develop a weekly production workflow and produced 10 audio + video episodes.
Scriptwriter for National Park After Dark — a weekly podcast that explores the darker, more complex stories behind our National Parks and public lands. Since launching in 2021, the show has gained over 42 million downloads, and been featured in The New York Times, and recieved Outdoor Media’s 2024 People’s Choice Award for Best Podcast.
Developed and co-produced Off Leash, a six-episode narrative series about the scruffy, curious, joyful world of dogs — which was "highly recommended" by The New Yorker and included on the CBC Radio "best podcasts of 2022" list.
Associate produced No Stupid Questions, a weekly conversation podcast about human behavior — creating full first drafts of more than 110 episodes.
Associate produced the bi-weekly interview podcast People I (Mostly) Admire — creating full first drafts of more than 40 episodes.
