Leying is a bilingual multimedia journalist with an M.A. in multimedia journalism from NYU. Now she works as an associate producer at CNN Podcasts. She formerly worked at The Journal podcast and WJFF Radio Catskill on national and local news stories in the U.S. With prior experience in video journalism, she worked at NBC News' digital video desk and Beijing Bureau, where she contributed to U.S. national breaking news coverage and reported on major events in China, like the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. She also worked on a PBS Frontline investigative documentary about Jack Teixeira, which won two Emmy nominations in 2024.

Originally established as an all-boys troop over a century ago, everything changed in 2019 with the official transition of the Boy Scouts of America to Scouts BSA. This change opened doors for girls to embark on the same scouting journey.
