About Julie

Julie Shapiro is a career listener, audio executive, and creative consultant. She co-founded Audio Flux in 2023 with John DeLore. She has developed and produced podcasts with Canadaland, including A Field Guide to Gay Animals and The Copernic Affair. She was Vice President of Editorial, PRX, and Executive Producer of PRX's Radiotopia, where she co-founded and executive produced  Ear Hustle, Over the Road, My Mother Made Me, and Radiotopia Presents, among others podcasts. From 2014–2015, Julie helped found and manage the ABC’s Creative Audio Unit. In 2000, she co-founded the Third Coast International Audio Festival, where as Artistic Director she shaped the Festival's creative trajectory and nurtured a robust international listening culture. Shapiro has taught radio to university students, presented at conferences and festivals the world over, and produced stories for the airwaves and podcasts in the US and beyond.
