Juleyka's Portfolio
An audio documentary series chronicling the health and lifetime outcomes of Latinas in the US, from pregnancy to age 100.
An award-winning documentary series that delves into the myriad ways local jails are the revolving doors to the country's matrix of criminal (in)justice systems.
Each episode delves into the different stories—past and present—that reveal the profound impact of the ugly history on which this country was built. Still Paying the Price goes beyond conversations about whether or not reparations should be paid, but how and to whom.
We produced, edited, sound designed, and scored this 10-part audio documentary. Award-winning BBC broadcaster Alvin Hall hits the road alongside former attorney and activist Janée Woods Weber. They drive from Detroit to New Orleans, collecting powerful, personal testimony about how Black Americans used the historic travel guide The Negro Motorist’s Green Book during the height of segregation as a vital resource to quell fears, find safe havens, and travel with dignity. As he drives the Green Book, Alvin unearths both inspiring and heartbreaking tales that tell a different story from what Hollywood would have you believe. Driving the Green Book is a living history podcast that preserves a powerful legacy and honors the stories of those who lived through the era, supported and uplifted each other, and fought for equality.
Our Peabody-nominated 70 Million documentary podcast investigates how locals are addressing the role of jails in their backyards. Our reporters travel around the country and hear from people directly impacted by encounters with jails and adjacent policies, and from those committed to reversing the negative effects on people and communities. 70 Million was recognized as the bronze winner in the Narrative/Documentary Podcast category of the 2019 New York Festivals and Silver winner in the 2020 competition. Now in its third season, it is made possible by a grant from the Safety and Justice Challenge at the MacArthur Foundation.
Real-life scenarios and practical, professional advice for adult children of immigrants on talking to our parents about stuff that’s taboo to them.
