Hi, I’m Jess. I’m a second-generation Taiwanese American, a proud daughter of immigrants, and a community builder at heart. Formerly a global health community mobilizer, I spent seven years living and working in places like Zambia, Honduras, and Bangladesh. In 2021, a chronic injury and disability forced a pivot from that career, and I channeled that forced pause into reinvention.
Now, I am the creator and host of Cultureful, a narrative podcast and social impact project. I have spent the last three years as a self-taught producer, learning everything from guest outreach to editing on Descript through sheer determination. My show is rooted in narrative justice; I believe people are the ultimate experts of their own stories—that regular, underrepresented folks are incredible protagonists with important stories to tell, and that we should listen. I thrive in "deep time"—the 40- to 60-minute conversations where strangers become neighbors through unscripted, human-to-human exchange.
I am an extroverted lover of community and my brain is a curious question factory. Whether I’m teaching restorative yoga or serving as a Blue Ribbon Judge for the Ambies, I prioritize human connection over resumes. I’m currently growing Cultureful into a brand that bridges cultures and builds empathy.
What I’m looking for: I’m looking for collaborations that go beyond surface-level inclusion to truly value diversity and underrepresented voices. I thrive in diverse groups and am eager to connect with values-aligned partners for:
- Collaborations & Promo Swaps: Connecting with narrative-driven shows (especially Society & Culture or History) for trailer swaps, feed drops, and newsletter features that resonate with our shared mission.
- Sponsorships & Brand Partnerships: Partnering with values-aligned brands and businesses that want to reach an engaged, high-quality subscriber base.
- Peers & Community: Connecting with independent creators and mentors to cross-pollinate ideas for both creative work and growth and monetization strategies.
If any of this resonates with you—send me a message!

This trailer features first-person testimonials from past guests—including activists and community leaders—reflecting on the transformative experience of the Cultureful interview process. It serves as a proof of concept for my "co-created memoir" methodology, demonstrating how deep-dive conversations can preserve cultural heritage and bridge identity bubbles.
In this Season 2 premiere, host Jess Lin talks with Aisha Sarwari—a 43-year-old Pakistani American women's rights activist, author, and corporate communications expert. This is the first of an in-depth, four-part co-created memoir that defines the "deep time" mission of the show.
Aisha shares her family’s multi-generational migration story—from India to Uganda and Kenya, and eventually to Pakistan and the U.S.—intertwining personal lived experience with the heavy gravity of historical events like India’s Partition and the expulsion of Asians from Uganda. In this opening chapter, she reflects on her parents’ backgrounds, shifting from the "micro-history" of her family to the broader cultural shifts that shaped them.
In this Season 2 finale, host Jess Lin talks with Martina to explore Kwanzaa as a living tradition shaped by family, history, and community. This "zoomed-in" conversation highlights the show's mission to bridge cultural gaps by exploring how heritage and memory are passed down—across generations and across communities.
Martina shares her family’s roots in the U.S. South and her own upbringing in San Francisco, intertwining personal lived experience with the vibrant history of the African Diaspora. She reflects on how her grandmother’s stories influenced her early student activism and her relationship with Black identity, shifting from the "micro-history" of her own family to the broader cultural importance of Kwanzaa in a constantly changing world.
