About Erika

I am an award-winning writer, historian editor, and multimedia producer. My writing and audio have appeared on NPR, Slate, The Atlantic, Midwest Living, Smithsonian, Wisconsin Public Radio, New Hampshire Public Radio, and others. I'm also the author of six books. I cofounded and led the multimedia storytelling project Wisconsin Life at Wisconsin Public Radio, and oversaw the podcast unit at NHPR, which produced such shows as Outside/In, Civics 101, and Patient Zero. I served as EP of Bear Brook. I currently serve as managing editor of the Peabody-award winning podcast Threshold and edit and EP shows at APM Studios. As a storyteller and editor, my background in history informs everything I do from explorations of waste in the textile industry, to the intersections of race and industrialization, to the woman who inspired the work of Arthur Conan Doyle. When I'm not working, I'm making things from clothes to baskets to stained glass.
