Dominique Ferraton

With a background both in fine arts and radio engineering, I combine creative storytelling with advanced technical skills.

Whether it's cleaning up an interview, capturing the essence of a story through thoughtful editing, or using music and field recordings to enrich a piece, my goal is to create unique and compelling sonic experiences. Specific fields of interest include science and the environment, sexuality and gender, arts and culture, social justice, and personal stories.

After years of volunteering in community radio, I worked as a technician at Montreal's Radio Shalom, until the southern prairies of Canada drew me away from the big city. As a freelance editor and sound designer, I now help individuals and organizations bring their audio projects to life. Past collaborators include Microsoft, NASDAQ, New Adventures in Sound Art, and the University of Ottawa. My work as an independent audio artist has also been supported by organizations such as the Canada Council for the Arts.

I have a special fondness for nature sounds, intimate storytelling and non-linear narratives. When I'm away from work, I love to explore the prairie countryside while foraging for wild edible plants.
