About Asia
Dr. Asia Lyons is the creator and host of The Exit Interview: A Podcast for Black Educators, an award-winning podcast and oral history project documenting the experiences, truths, and transitions of Black educators across the country. Through powerful storytelling and research-informed dialogue, the podcast explores educator retention, racial battle fatigue, healing, identity, and the futures Black educators deserve. The podcast is currently being archived by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture as part of its cultural collections.
Dr. Lyons is also the founder of Liberated Educators Lab LLC, where she partners with schools, universities, and organizations to design wellness initiatives, research projects, and healing-centered experiences for educators. A former educator and nationally recognized speaker, she has presented at SXSW EDU, Harvard Graduate School of Education, and other national convenings focused on equity, wellness, and the sustainability of Black educators.

The Exit Interview is an award-winning audio project and living archive documenting the experiences of Black educators across the United States. Through intimate interviews, storytelling, and research-informed conversations, the project explores racial battle fatigue, educator retention, identity, healing, and what it means for Black educators to imagine liberated futures both inside and beyond school systems. Hosted by Dr. Asia Lyons, the project blends oral history, wellness, and cultural memory to preserve stories too often left out of dominant conversations about education.
