Hi! I’m a longtime NPR daily show editor and reporter, now freelancing. I'm curious about everything and I lean into the chaos — ask me about the time I brought my toddler daughter to an interview during sheep herding, kids ask the best questions!

About Amanda

I’m an award-winning reporter, producer, and editor primarily covering climate and the environment. I spent the last year as a 2025-26 Ted Scripps Fellow in Environmental Journalism at CU Boulder. I spent the preceding 8 years at National Public Radio's 1A show, where my work was heard by 4+ million listeners each week. As 1A's Special Projects Editor, I edited scripts, digital stories, and managed 1A’s special on-air series and partnerships. I led both of 1A's six-figure grant-funded projects, managing deadlines and producing on-air broadcasts, field reports, and audience engagement events in collaboration with a dozen public media partner stations. I came to 1A by way of southern Virginia, where I was a local newspaper reporter covering breaking news and education. I'm also an active member of the Society for Environmental Journalists.
