Request for Proposals: Religion & Revolution
BYUradio and the National Museum of American Religion seek a seasoned production partner to develop and deliver a limited-series audio podcast about the diverse religious traditions, communities, and ideas that influenced the founding of the United States.
Basic Format: 12 episodes, 15 minutes each. Scripted dialogue between two hosts discussing episodes in US history that lead to the development of the nation and its evolving ideal of religious freedom. Richly textured SFX bring historical moments alive. Looking for host with reach to raise the profile of the podcast.
Target Audience: Families, home school groups, teachers looking for supplemental material. Comparables: RadioLab meets John Green’s Crash Course.
Podcast Goal: Motivate listeners to take seriously the tenets of religious freedom in the United States as well as to consider the complexity of religious traditions, communities, and practices that lead to that ideal. Podcast success will be measured in impact and engagement, not financial return.
Target Launch: Q4 2026
Scope of Work: Podcast Production Partner will work with NMAR historian to revise current scripts for production. Handle all technical aspects of developing and delivering the limited-series audio podcast, including casting. Connect podcast with distribution networks outside BYUradio.
