This Way Out is a weekly, internationally distributed public radio program and podcast focused on LGBTQ news, culture, and historical storytelling.

This Way Out, an award-winning weekly LGBTQ-focused radio magazine distributed internationally, seeks an interim News Editor to lead editorial production of its NewsWrap segment.

Position Summary:
The News Editor is responsible for weekly story selection, research, and scriptwriting, working closely with the production team to deliver timely, accurate, and engaging global LGBTQ news coverage.

Details:

  • Interim contract position
  • Compensation: $200/week
  • Remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate global LGBTQ news developments
  • Select stories and write broadcast-ready scripts
  • Collaborate with Associate Producer on short-form news features
  • Coordinate with News Producer on reader recruitment, assignments, and workflow

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated news judgment and editorial experience
  • Strong broadcast or print writing skills
  • Familiarity with LGBTQ issues and international coverage
  • Ability to meet weekly production deadlines
