Tell us about yourself:

I am a junior at Columbia University studying English. I’m also from Jamaica, NY!

A piece of yours or project (in any medium) that you'd like to share.

I did a piece about the NYPD’s Gang Database for WNYC’s Radio Rookies: https://www.wnyc.org/story/radio-rookies-gang-database/

What draws you to storytelling?

The fact that something I can find interesting is something and other people find interesting and I get to, as my job, delve into that so everyone learns something interesting is incredible.

What excites you the most about being a New Voices Scholar?

Getting to be in community with people and learning more about the industry!

What’s playing on your radio/audio streaming service right now?

RadioLab, The Daily, and This American Life always.

What’s the most underrated tool (technical or not) that you use in your creative process?

Reading novels!

What is something you want to see more of in the industry?

I’d love to see more unexpected collaborations because radio needs new perspectives!

Who/What are your radio/audio inspirations and why?

Ira Glass, Misha Euceph, Ariana Lee, Arwen Nicks, Sam Broun, Saidu Tejan-Thomas Jr., Latif Nasser. They exemplify to me what audio can be and have shown over and over again how expert they are at their craft!

Anything else you'd like to add?

I’m a huge fan of Jean-Michel Basquiat!
