Save The Date: May 11th
In the fall of 1988, freelance producers gathered around a kitchen table in downtown New York City to talk shop. What emerged from their conversations—a blueprint of what was and was definitively not working in their audio careers—formed the foundation of AIR: the Association of Independents in Radio, which was officially recognized as a nonprofit that year.
Since then, AIR has supported independent producers and media makers, advocating for their needs as they navigate the industry together through training, resources, and mentorship all while creating a vibrant network of audio professionals around the world.

Snapshots of AIR

In 2019, AIR was on the ground in Marfa, TX to celebrate the incredible work of Marfa Public Radio. Ryan McGrath, Ava Fields, An Uong and Tran Vu are pictured above enjoying the art scene in this small west Texas town. Marfa Public Radio hosted a local event funded by AIR’s Localore programming. The program focused on amplifying underrepresented communities, their storytellers, and their stories, told for and by the community.
More highlights and memories from the past will be posted to this page :)
