AIR Opens 2025 Board Nominations to Strengthen Leadership and Support Independent Audio’s Future
New York, NY (November 6, 2025) — The Association of Independents in Radio (AIR) has opened nominations for its 2025 Board of Directors election, inviting leaders who are ready to help shape the next phase of AIR’s growth and sustain its mission to support independent audio creators.
This year, the AIR Board of Directors aims to strengthen its support of AIR in two specific ways. First, by seeking candidates with experience in program funding, development, or fundraising who understand the challenges nonprofits face in today’s climate and who bring a clear vision for maintaining a strong, stable foundation for the organization. Second, by adding individuals with finance management experience who can strengthen AIR’s long-term planning and fiscal oversight.
“These are not hard requirements; they’re areas where the Board can add real value,” said Keisha Salmon, Executive Director of AIR. “Strong governance and strategic leadership are essential to ensuring AIR remains sustainable and intentional to meet the evolving needs of the independent audio community.”
AIR’s Board of Directors works in partnership with staff to uphold the organization’s mission to train, mentor, and advocate for independent audio professionals. Board members play a key role in shaping AIR’s direction, strengthening accountability, and supporting the development of programs that help independent producers, editors, and journalists build sustainable careers.
AIR welcomes nominees from both inside and outside of the audio industry who share a commitment to supporting creativity, equity, and opportunity in sound. An AIR member must submit nominees, though nominees themselves do not need to be members at the time of nomination.
As AIR continues to grow its membership and flagship programs, such as SoundPath, New Voices, and StoryFund, the organization’s fiscal sponsorship program, the Board’s leadership will be central to ensuring the financial health, strategic development, and long-term success of the independent audio community.
