About Zacha
I’m a Sydney-based radio producer and writer. I make Or It Didn’t Happen (fiction) and Not What You Think (non-fiction) for Sydney’s FBi Radio, and edit podcasts for other organisations.
In the past, I’ve made episodes of the Black Dog Podcast, the Pomegranate podcast for the Royal Australiasian College of Physicians, and a documentary series about Cervantes for the Sydney Cervantes Institute. Most recently I did clean-up edits for the Cancer Council’s ‘The Thing About Advanced Cancer’. I’ve produced narrative non-fiction packages, fiction, live-to-air interview and explainers. I take questions, feedback or requests.
I’ve recorded tape syncs in and around Sydney for the BBC’s Cultural Front Line, Propublica/Frontline/WBUR, and the 7am Podcast. I provided gear and recorded for the Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness podcast when they visited Sydney,
For tape syncs, I use a Sound Devices MixPre 6 recorder and a Rode NTG3. With a Sennheiser MD42, and other mics, in reserve.
Hablo español como Mexicano, pero mi accento es super australiano.
Zacha's Portfolio
Two Quixotes
A commissioned podcast for the Instituto Cervantes, Sydney, to educate English speakers about who Cervantes was — his work, his life, and his connections to Shakespeare — on the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare and Cervantes’ deaths.
The podcast touched on related areas as diverse as astronomy, detective fiction, Free Comic Book Day, Jane Austen, being kidnapped by pirates, fan culture, and the Mexican city of Guanajuato.
Or It Didn’t Happen
Short fictions series on Sydney’s FBi Radio. The series spotlighted local authors mostly reading their own work, in the studio or live at community events.
The series was designed to be simple and easily repeatable on a low budget. While it was an unfunded community radio project, most authors were given a high quality copy of their story after broadcast, with the option to reuse as they saw fit.
