About Marisa
A passionate storyteller, I’m an award-winning creative leader, writer and producer with over 15 years experience leading award-winning teams. My media career started as a journalist for ABC News, where I wrote and produced for ABC NewsOne, ABCNews Live, 2020 and Primetime Live. I was then an assignment editor, managing editorial, producers and talent for ABC News’ coverage of major events including Hurricane Katrina, the BP oil spill, presidential elections and the war in Iraq. While I loved pitching stories and working with the mega talent at ABC, I left the stressful world of journalism and discovered the New York comedy scene, studying improv and sketch at Upright Citizen’s Brigade and Magnet Theater. I co-created and produced comedy podcast FriendsLikeUs (acquired by CBS Radio), storytelling podcast What About Love, scripted podcast Venice and others. As the team lead for the podcast division of Wondermind, I built the division's operational and production infrastructure, as well as its creative strategy, resulting in the network's first Top 3 show and tripling its base audience. I'm a member of the Writers Guild of America and have an MBA in Entrepreneurship, and Bachelors in Computer Science and Communications.
