About Mable

Mable Chan is Founder/President of One in a Billion Productions Inc (501c3) a non-profit educational media group based in Cambridge, MA. It is a social enterprise with a podcast, blogs, and video profiles designed to give voice to a fast-growing but underrepresented or misrepresented Asians in America. Beginning in 2019, One in a Billion also invests in or gives grants to independent documentary filmmakers who are Asians or Asian-focused. 
Currently, Mable is the host and executive producer of podcast "One in a Billion" podcast. 
Previously, she was a producer for ABC News Good Morning America specializing in breaking news, parenting and health stories. She had also produced for Dateline, NBC News, and received top journalism awards including the Edward R. Murrow, the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia, the George F. Peabody for investigative reporting on insurance fraud, and breaking news coverage of the 9/11 attacks from Ground Zero. Prior to her American network career, Mable served as principal anchor and correspondent for Hong Kong Television Broadcasts (HK-TVB) reporting on student protests in China, refugees exodus from Vietnam, Pol Pot survivors in Cambodia, plane crash in Thailand. A graduate of Harvard University with a master’s degree in East Asian Studies (AM’93), Mable remains an “Associate-in-Research” at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard. A native of Hong Kong, Mable is the only member of her family to become a naturalized U.S. citizen. Mable is also an advanced classical piano student at the New England Conservatory (Evening Division), a yogi, a practicing novelist, and a film investor.
