Johanna is available forI am available to work as a consultant on new projects, (small and large) and to provide editing support to everyone from independents, to production companies to public radio stations in need of skillful eyes and ears.
As a radio producer, editor and co-founder of the Third Coast International Audio Festival, Johanna Zorn has been committed to the development of contemporary audio culture for more than three decades. Currently Johanna is working as a consultant with Audible, and an editor with PMJA's Editor Corps, among other projects. Johanna started her career in radio at WBEZ, Chicago producing a wide variety of programs, from award-winning children’s shows, to daily talk programs, when she was asked to lead the station’s ambitious annual public affairs series Chicago Matters. Working with radio documentarians for the series inspired her in 1999 to create the Third Coast Festival as a “Sundance for Radio.” Johanna and Third Coast Festival co-founder Julie Shapiro, designed this unique project with the intention of building a robust, artistic field of audio storytelling. Through its many program elements - including the annual Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition, Third Coast Conference and Radio Residency - this vision was achieved. In 2009, Zorn led efforts to transform Third Coast into an independent media arts organization, and was at the helm as executive director until fall, 2019.
