About Heather
I'm a freelance radio-maker based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada (on the north shore of Lake Superior just above Minnesota). I'm currently also a fill-in reporter, producer, news reader, and tech with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Previously, I spent 10 years as a Canadian news stringer for SiriusXM OutQ and was the host and producer of an award-winning community radio program on CiTR FM in Vancouver, B.C. My work ranges from serious journalism on topics such as Canada's health care staffing crisis to humorous short docs about Canadians who install satellite dishes on beaver lodges. I've been nominated for two RTDNA awards for excellence in sound, and I've won two NCRA Community Radio Awards for documentary and focus programming. If you need any help with anything, from tape syncs to full-on documentary production, I'd be thrilled to help out. Also, if you're looking for collaborators for any experimental / audio art projects, drop me a line. I'm always interested in trying creative new ideas! In addition, I have nearly 30 years of experience in the music business, so if you have questions about music licensing and that sort of thing, fire away! I'll try to answer them. And if you just want to go for a picnic with another audio nerd, drop me a line. I'm always up for socializing.
