g'beda T. Lyles is an independent audio producer, storyteller, writer, editor, sound designer, field recorder, musician and performing artist. This 2022 Texas Folklife fellow is mentored and trained by folklorists, and National Public Radio and BBC journalists. g'beda has an natural gift for capturing the nuances in stories that engage listeners.
g'beda loves a great interview and connects easily with guests. Crafting audio-stories through field recordings, one-on-one interviews, script writings, editing and original music compositions, gives each piece a unique touch.
Collaborating with g'beda adds an artistic ear to any project. g'beda offers deep listening to the scope of a project and understands how to deliver a production of the vision.
g'beda is currently living on the borderland of El Paso, Texas; Juarez, Mexico; and New Mexico. Here, g'beda studies mariachi music, offers healing arts, and performs locally.

In 2022, g'beda was chosen to produce an audio-story with Texas Folklife, Austin, Texas. g'beda was a The Folklorist Next Door.
This project dives into the life of mariachis living on the borderland of El Paso. Here, g'beda began studying the guitarron (bass instrument) and interviewed three local mariachis.
The piece includes original music, field recordings of El Paso, local musicians and interviews.
