About Deirdre
I create audio stories that bring listeners into new worlds: a brain surgery at Stanford, a refugee camp in Sweden, or the dark waters of the Puget Sound.
For 20+ years, I've reported and produced news features, interviews, and audio segments public radio shows, web sites, and podcasts including:
All Things Considered • Morning Edition • Marketplace • Living on Earth • On the Media • The World • Deutsche Welle • Radio France International • Latino USA • Performance Today • To The Best of Our Knowledge • Invisibilia • Reveal • Pop-up Magazine • Newsweek.com • Blurb • Slate • Fresh Air • This American Life
Between 1996 and 2008, I was a station-based reporter, newscaster, editor, and producer for KQED, KALW and KPFA in the San Francisco Bay Area where I covered everything and anything, including computer technology, health care, immigration, social justice, environmental issues, performing arts, and politics.
In 2005, I launched and hosted a show called “Animals Aloud" that explored the complex bond between humans and other species which ran on XM Satellite and ran as a podcast until 2011.
