About Claire

I'm a multimedia journalist and audio producer. I have a master’s degree in journalism from New York University where I was an Arthur L. Carter Fellow. My bachelor’s degree is in Women’s and Gender Studies from Dickinson College.

Previously, I worked for NBC News and MSNBC, including Into America, a narrative podcast hosted by Trymaine Lee. I also developed new shows for the company’s podcast catalogue.

I teach Podcasting for Journalists, a course I created for the American Journalism Online Master’s Program at the New York University Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. I've also taught at the SALT Institute for Documentary Studies. In 2019, Amnesty International USA awarded me the 2019 Media Award for Outstanding Student Journalism for my bilingual investigative work on gender-based violence in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria(Aqui En Español.)

I’ve produced and reported independent audio features for Field Recordings, WHYY’s The Pulse, Business Insider’s Household Name, and Sierra Club’s The Overstory podcast. I've also worked on six podcasts for Pineapple Street Studios: Stay Tuned with Preet Bharara, CAFÉ Insider, Unhappy Hour with Matt Bellassai, Netflix's You Can't Make This Up, Access & Opportunity with Carla Harris, and Going Through It (Mailchimp). I've done tape syncs for KQED, NPR, CBC, Politico, Bloomberg, Milk Street Radio, Sierra Club, Kerning Cultures, and Made in Manchester (BBC), and many more. Before I became a journalist, I worked in nonprofit fundraising in New York and Chicago for three and a half years.

My writing has appeared in print and online at NBC News, The Village Voice, Mic, Belt Magazine, Rewire.News, Bitch Magazine, Ms., Bedsider and elsewhere.
