Abraham's Portfolio
A year-long investigation into how bureaucratic inertia stopped paramedics from going into Pulse nightclub to pull out the wounded. A peer-reviewed study found 16 victims died with potentially survivable wounds if they had gotten medical care sooner.
The Pulse nightclub shooting highlights a flaw in the U.S. health care system: the closest hospital gets the most patients in a mass casualty event. An hour-long documentary looked at what happened in the emergency room at Orlando Regional Medical Center during the Pulse nightclub shooting - and what can be learned from it.
This story with ProPublica looked at how police and fire departments were ill-equipped to handle the flood of first responders with lost-traumatic stress disorder after the Pulse nightclub shooting. In fact, policies actually worsened symptoms for some.
