I was a co-founder of the FemRadio Feminist Radio Collective at CJRU in Toronto, Canada. Producing, hosting and organizing shows long side my fellow collective members (2016-2018). Example episode linked here.
What can the radio voice tell us about the representation of women in the media industry? A three-part radio thesis and audio documentary, “This is the Sound of my Voice” presents the experiences and voices of women from the Toronto radio scene. This is the Sound of My Voice” premiered on CJRU 1280AM.
Interview and documentary feature for Phantom Power podcast. In part two of our three-part series “Voices,” we feature an exciting new voice in the world of sound studies, Stacey Copeland. Copeland’s audio documentary, “This is the Sound of My Voice,” examines another group of professionals—women broadcasters and podcasters, who struggle with sonic sexism from male colleagues, audiences, and sometimes, even themselves.
Stories about How Literature Sounds. The SpokenWeb Podcast is a monthly podcast produced by the SpokenWeb team. It is one of the compelling ways the SpokenWeb project is framing and showcasing the audio of unique archival literary recordings held by SpokenWeb-affiliated universities and communities across Canada.
Stacey Copeland, of Simon Fraser University, is one of the Top 25 finalists in the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s 2020 Storytellers challenge. Her submission is an audio short based on the SSHRC funded research project by supervisor Dr. Milena Droumeva at SFU titled: Soundscapes of Livability: Exploring the design of the livable city. Voiceover and co-production by Brett Ashleigh.
