About Serra

*Seeking Summer 2023 Internships*

Hello, my name is Serra Sowers and I am a journalist and Junior Honors Lombardi Scholar at the University of Florida studying journalism and sustainability studies. I have experience and interest in audio journalism, hosting, reporting for digital and radio, podcast producing and photography. Currently, I produce two podcasts -- The Point through WUFT News and Two Bees in a Podcast through the UF Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory. I also run live casts for WUFT during the All Things Considered NPR show on Monday afternoons. Additionally, I am taking Multimedia Reporting this semester with Herbert Lowe. Some of my clips are linked below.

At UF, I am involved in several student organizations including Science CommuniGators, Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity and Luminaries Honors Ambassadors. Additionally, I have started an inclusive speaker series called Tiny Talks, featuring interdisciplinary topics in under three minutes. Outside of academic learning, I enjoy spending time outdoors, improving my photography skills, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to using my skills and learning more about careers in news, audio news production and podcasting. Thank you for checking out my profile. You can contact me at [email protected]
