About Scott Etan

Hi all! I'm a Yale University Class of 2020 graduate and a composer/writer looking to transfer my practical skills in theatre into alternate modes of storytelling.

I have 8+ years cross-functional experience with ProTools and Logic, and have provided original incidental music to several plays and short films.

I have provided the music & lyrics for two original musicals, shepherding both shows from conception to production. For my work on my senior thesis musical Rumspringa, I was awarded the 2020 Louis Sudler Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts, Yale University’s highest arts award. I was the first ever recipient of the SigWorks Signature Theatre/Yale Composer Fellowship in 2019 for my first musical Saturdays, which was also performed in 2018 as part of New York Musical Festival’s Developmental Reading Series and was a semi-finalist for the Eugene O’Neill National Musical Theatre Conference. At Yale, I was also awarded the Bach Society Music Prize and the Abraham Beekman Cox Prize for my work in the Department of Music.

I hold a B.A. in Music & Theatre Studies from Yale University and a diploma in Composition from Juilliard Pre-College.
