I prefer to be involved in a project from the beginning so I can help drive the narrative direction and creative elements of the production. That would include research/reporting, field producing and interviewing. I am comfortable taking on a subject that's new to me because I am a a quick study and a deep dive researcher. Having said that, I have also worked on projects as researcher only, or field producer only.

About Sandra

Most of my journalism has been in radio/audio and I have done collaborations with video and print. And believe me if you can make a tv/radio/print collaboration work to everyone's satisfaction, you have climbed the mountain. I have done collaborations with PBS Frontline, ProPublica, the Center for Public Integrity, Reveal News, the ICIJ and Swiss TV.  I worked in Canada and the U.S. for public radio and TV - National Public Radio and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

I have reported and produced more than two dozen radio narrative documentaries and produced podcasts. I always look for the people who are excited, angry, hurting and fighting in all the projects I do.   And I interview to bring out their personalities and the surprising elements of their stories.

I am attracted to projects that tell narrative stories, whether they are revealing or illustrative.

Here is a quote from my former boss at NPR which I think is a pretty description of what you get when you work with me:

"Sandra combines the skills of dogged reporter, project manager, field producer and story teller that turns the most complicated and hard to report issues into compelling and impactful broadcast and web stories. In a world of big egos and big emotions, Sandra also stands out for her “no drama” personality – she’s about getting the story and getting it to the audience." Ellen Weiss, Vice President & Bureau Chief Scripps Howard News Service.
