About Russell

I've been an independent artist for over 20 years and grew audiences in Texas, California and the Pacific Northwest.  My experience in musical performance and studio production opened the door for me to support independent media such as podcasts, online videos, and courses.  I prioritize projects that are socially conscious.  

In 2021, I moved from the west coast with my family to Lexington, Kentucky.  It was at this time that I founded Buyride Productions as music production house specializing in original music for educational videos, online classes, audiobooks, commercials, and podcasts.  I believe that quality audio can set your project apart, and amplify your message.

Koda and the Caribou
I had the pleasure of working with a 12 year old storyteller on his original work, Koda and the Caribou. In this project, I wrote the original score as well as the soundscape.
Midwifing America - Podcast
Midwifing American was my first podcast project. I was responsible for the recording, editing, and all musical content. I learned about midwifery in the process, and while the pandemic put the project on hold, we have a loyal following and are looking forward to a new iteration of Midwifing America.

No Food Left Behind
No Food left Behind started off as a music producing job. I was brought in to create the instrumentation to the song Bump It Up by children musical artist, Magic Mama, aka Kjersten Hallin. As it turned out, the song led to an opportunity to produce a full course project for what Kjersten calls an Eco-Edutainment Video. This was a rewarding on many levels as I was able to contribute to the sound scape and overall audio quality.
Find Your Midwife - ACNM
Find Your Midwife was a campaign initiated by the American College of Nurse Midwives. I was hired to compose original music for this educational video. I also created the soundscape, mixed and mastered the project.
Food Forest - Oregon State University
I provided original music and sound design for this project - Permaculture design course featuring Andrew Millison at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR.
Living Pain Free Seminar by Peter Smith
This a project that is dear to my heart. Peter Smith is a licensed physical therapist who has put together a course to help people get out of chronic pain holistically. On this project, I'm the videographer, producer, video editor, audio engineer, and composer. We are currently still in post production completing the course.
