About Richard

Hi there! My name is Richard Cunningham, and I am a journalist and audio storyteller, based in the Greater Los Angeles Area. I hail from the DMV — specifically, Prince George’s County, Maryland. I am currently seeking new opportunities to tell personal and intimate stories that educate the audience and innovate the medium.

My last stop was as an associate producer for Marketplace, a national radio show from American Public Media Group on the economy and business. Before Marketplace, I worked as an associate producer at WAMU 88.5 for The Kojo Nnamdi Show, a local public radio show covering current events, the arts and social trends.

I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2022, with a master’s in Journalism, specializing in Interactive Media. I wrote my thesis on how journalists of color see traditional journalistic objectivity. I also have a bachelor's in Media and Communication Studies from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

When not producing audio, I enjoy playing basketball, cartwheeling, telling horrible dad jokes, and rewatching Superstore for the millionth time.
