In March 2021, the first of the former officers charged in the killing of George Floyd went on trial in Minnesota. Police officers are rarely prosecuted in such cases—and the world watched. MPR News, which has followed this case in detail from the beginning, brought listeners updates on this monumental case, and the consequences it holds for the city and the country. I created and launched this show.

Original reporting reveals that hundreds of millions of property tax dollars never should have been billed to Detroiters in the first place. Plus, what happens to homeowners when their neighbors’ homes are foreclosed, turning neighborhoods into ghost towns largely owned by the city.
