About Noor
I am a documentary poet, oral historian, and freelance audio producer based in Berkeley, California. I'm interested in the confluence between space and memory, and in intimacy of audio storytelling, as listeners allow a new voice into their ears. I graduated from the Transom Traveling Workshop in Detroit in December 2019, and have been working since then on production for podcasts including Your Undivided Attention, Babel: Translating the Middle East, and for clients like Marvel and Bay Crossings. I've worked as a researcher, fact checker, producer, booker, editor, sound designer, and tape syncher. From 2016-2017. I was based in Amman, Jordan collecting oral histories with Iraqis in diaspora through a Fulbright Fellowship. In 2018, I was an Atlas Obscura Editorial Fellow in Brooklyn, NY. I am fluent in Arabic, and have experience working with a variety of communities.

Sarms Jabra immigrated to Michigan with his family when he was just six years old. Though he has few memories of Baghdad, Kim's grocery is a space where he can exist simultaneously in Baghdad and Detroit.
