This four-episode podcast was a project with New Mexico PBS I did under a grant from American Experience as part of its documentary The Vote. I explore the story of suffrage in New Mexico, which took a very different path from the rest of the West. Hispanic women were key to passing suffrage in New Mexico because there was a powerful political structure of Hispanics in the state long before it became part of the United States. But even after the 19th Amendment was ratified, Native Americans still didn't have the right to vote in New Mexico and I also explore what it took to make that happen. We end with a look at the work left undone on gender equity and Native voting rights.

I was the co-host and co-producer on this series that began before recreational cannabis was legalized in New Mexico and followed the legislative process while also taking with advocates, entrepreneurs, experts and politicians and what this would mean for the state.
