About Mateo

I'm a self-taught audio producer who left behind a career in environmental consulting to pursue storytelling. I spent two years in Latin America as a fledgling doc film producer, working on features about immigration and agriculture, and returned stateside in 2019 where I launched a live recorded video series in Denver.

I've got tons of field recording experience using just about every type of mic imaginable—shotgun, mid-side, large diaphragm condenser, lavalier, paired condensers—and spend a lot of time in the "lab." I'm fully proficient in editing and post-production in Audition, and have a great feel for sound design and scoring. I also know my way around Izotope and Descript.

I'm looking to spend more time on narrative-driven radio storytelling, as much of my early career has been focused on video and music, although I'm eager to tell stories about the creative processes of musicians because I find it fascinating.
