About Lucy
I am a reporter, editor, and producer with nearly a decade of experience working in local and national newsrooms.
My career began in 2014 as a Kroc Fellow at NPR. I then worked as a producer on programs including NPR’s All Things Considered, Weekend Edition, Morning Edition, Here & Now, and Hidden Brain.
In 2018, I moved to Pittsburgh to work at the NPR station WESA. As a member of the station’s government & accountability team, I reported on voting and the 2018 midterms and the 2020 presidential election. I covered breaking news as well as in-depth reporting on abortion rights, steel tariffs, and fracking. My reporting earned a national Edward R. Murrow award for Best News Series for Large Market Radio.
I later became an editor at the station and managed coverage for a team of 2-5 reporters.
In 2022, I decided to try freelancing, and returned to NPR’s headquarters as a contract editor on Weekend All Things Considered. I also worked as the editor for The Washington Post’s daily news podcast, Post Reports. My work has appeared on Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Here & Now, Weekend Edition, Hidden Brain, The NPR Politics Podcast, Post Reports, and the BBC. I’m based in Pittsburgh.

In 2022, I joined The Washington Post audio team as a contract editor on the Post’s daily news podcast, Post Reports. As editor, I pitched episodes, shaped and fact-checked interview preps, scripted episodes, coached hosts in tracking sessions, edited episodes for structure, content and clarity, gave scoring notes to producers and engineers, and brought the show over the finish line.
I edited around 50 episodes during my seven-month contract at The Washington Post. These are a few highlights.
I first joined NPR in 2014 as a Kroc Fellow. I then worked as a producer on All Things Considered, Weekend Edition, Morning Edition, Here & Now, and Hidden Brain.
From 2018-2021 I filed stories for NPR from Pittsburgh on the 2018 Tree of Life synagogue shooting, the grand jury investigation of sexual abuse in the Pennsylvania Catholic Dioceses, the 2018 midterms and the 2020 presidential election.
In 2022, I returned to NPR headquarters as a contract editor on national news magazines including All Things Considered and Weekend Edition.
