About Lisa

Award-winning audio and print journalist with expertise in public education and a passion for the stories of individuals. As the education reporter for North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC I focused on racial and social inequity and how parents, educators, and researchers were working to address these issues. My work was heard nationally on NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and my education features won awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. These include an SPJ Green Eyeshade Award for "Best Radio Documentary" (https://www.wunc.org/education/2021-12-14/the-cost-of-summer) -- and RTDNA Edward R. Murrow award for "Best News Series" (https://www.wunc.org/term/after-florence-new-hanover-schools-rebuild). I left WUNC to care for my two toddlers, and have since gained invaluable experience in behavior management, damage mitigation, and circus ringmastery.
