About Laura

Laura Starecheski is a Senior Radio Editor at Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting. Her radio work at Reveal has won a national Edward R. Murrow, a duPont-Columbia and a Peabody, among other awards. She previously reported on health for NPR’s Science Desk and traveled America with host Al Letson for the Peabody Award-winning documentary special State of the Re:Union (SOTRU). Her 2006 Radiolab story, “Goat on a Cow,” won a Third Coast Silver Award for best documentary, and SOTRU's “The Hospital Always Wins” won a 2014 National Murrow as well as Third Coast Director's Choice. Laura has taught radio production at the City University of New York, Columbia University, Upward Bound, NPR's Next Generation Radio, outLoud Radio, and North Country Public Radio. Starecheski has been a Rosalynn Carter fellow for mental health journalism and a Knight-Wallace fellow at the University of Michigan. She served on the board of AIR from 2012 to 2018, and lives in Philly.
