About Lacy

Hello! I'm an independent podcast editor and producer based in Missoula, Montana. I've successfully developed, piloted, produced, and edited shows for clients like CNN, TED, First Look Media, and Al Jazeera. My background is in journalism, and I work hard to bring both compelling storytelling and journalistic rigor to my non-fiction projects. I am available for story editing and I consult on show development, production and editorial planning, building narrative treatments, finding a sound for your show, and more. 

As an editor, I love helping people find the best way to tell a story. I approach editing with an emphasis on clarity, preserving the writers’ voice and perspective, journalistic rigor, and creating a safe and positive working relationship. 

Before going independent, I was the managing producer at Brooklyn-based and Peabody-nominated podcast production company Transmitter Media. In 2017, I co-directed We Became Fragments, a short documentary film featured in the New York Times Op-Docs Season 6. My freelance work has also been seen and heard in the New York Times, The Atlantic, PBS Newshour, and NPR affiliates around the country.

Justice is about doing the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons. And it’s about making sure that no one is above the law. In each episode of Doing Justice, Preet Bharara explores the key elements of a case from the unique perspective of the prosecutor. I wrote and co-produced Episode 4 of this series based on Preet Bharara’s book Doing Justice, and supported the team as managing producer.

As consulting producer, I helped with reporting and editing the series, and contributed my family’s story in E5: Back Home.
Forever is a Long Time
Forever is a Long Time is an independent project by producer and composer Ian Coss. I collaborated with Ian as the series' story editor. When Ian Coss decided to get married, every living member of his family who had ever been married had also gotten divorced: parents, grandparents, and all his aunts and uncles on both sides — some of them twice. Today, he has questions: What is the value of a lifetime commitment? Are we doomed to recycle the patterns of behavior we get from our ancestors? Are we all just better off alone? Forever is a Long Time is a five episode series that weaves reflection and original music through Ian’s conversations with his wife and divorced family members — a look at love with people who have made mistakes.
