I have my background in radio reporting and producing through Report for America, Iowa Public Radio and KBIA in Columbia, MO. But I've found there is a real need for more work on the "behind-the-scenes" of conventional reporting. There's a need in communities for engagement, media literacy promotion and education as well as non-biased reporting. I focus a lot of my attention on this pre-reporting step that I believe is necessary for influential and powerful journalism with projects with youth media, immigrant and refugees and other underrepresented populations in public radio.
