About Julia
I have over 10 years experience crafting fact-based narratives for leading media companies and nonprofits, including the Discovery Channel, AsapSCIENCE, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. Often these roles demanded keen attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment. At Funny or Die concepts could change in a day. At Discovery Channel breaking news would give us only a few hours to prepare in-depth, well researched videos. These creative non-fiction media environments demand flexibility while maintaining excellence.
For Funny or Die I gathered compelling research, interviewed experts, and collaborated with writers to script a new science-based comedy show called High Science. I wrote several scripts for AsapSCIENCE’s Sunny Science Stories series, which shared a little more joy in these uncertain times. And previously for The Discovery Channel, I wrote and hosted over 200 educational episodes on a wide variety of topics for the YouTube channel Seeker (formerly DNews). Through social media, I raised views per episode to over 100,000 views, the weekly view count to over 4 million and subscriber count to over 1.7 million.
