Jonathan is available for

Long-form journalism projects grappling with wicked problems
Stand-alone vignette projects that explore theme of human connectedness

I'm looking to join forces with experienced producers & reporters to cover contested narratives-- ones signaled by impasse, confusion, exhaustion, paradox-- and to cover obstacles to transformational change that span rural-urban contexts or threaten critical zones.

About Jonathan

Like a moth to a light I attract to work that is stuck, abandoned, or on the edge of chaos. I love to find narrative material in what would otherwise be on the editing floor.

I'm guided by belief that the world’s most important topics are entangled, I can find my way across them all by pulling at a single loose end.

I like to harness a systems perspective, interviewing enablers and those in the way, and to test clear depiction of humans one way or another.

I aspire to an approach to news gathering which is post-problem-solving and focused on community identity and societal self-awareness, to shift the contemporary challenges it once used to anchor—kind of like peace-building but for journalists.

I am a resident of Salt Lake City and new to the AIR community, I would like to do more with news-gathering within the Mountain West region because I belong to the people and problems there. My views are my own.
