James is available for

As a freelancer, I'm available for production gigs, feature and news reporting, as well as tape syncs in the Boston area. I'm also open to full-time work in public media/podcasting as a reporter or producer. I have extensive experience factchecking for magazines and would be interested in factchecking in the audio space.

I've conducted tape syncs for Snap Judgment, This American Life and Slate's Slow Burn.

About James

I'm an audio and print journalist with extensive experience as an editor and researcher. Currently I'm an editor and reporter for the technology and cybersecurity outlet The Record.

My reporting has taken me to Cambodia, Lebanon and East Africa, and I've worked domestically for The Oregonian and The Chicago Reporter, and produced audio stories for Snap Judgment, Capital Public Radio in Sacramento, KCBX in San Luis Obispo and Northern California Public Media in Sonoma County. Until 2018, I was the Deputy Managing Editor of The Phnom Penh Post. Currently, I work as a contract editor with the cybersecurity publication The Record.
I'm drawn to stories with an environmental or science angle, especially when they are international in focus — as well as unexpected culture, business or history stories that help us to understand the world we live in.
