About Harriet
Radio/digital journalist and podcaster. I started my career at the BBC, taught journalism for the BBC World Service Trust, and managed the newsroom at WNPR, Connecticut Public Radio. My work has been heard on NPR and APM's Marketplace. I've won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award from RTDNA, an Excellence in Journalism Award from the CT Society of Professional Journalists and shared in a National Academies Eric and Wendy Schmidt Award for Excellence in Science Communication. I also teach podcasting at the University of Connecticut. If you need help with story development, audio editing, sound mixing, interviewing, scripting or tape syncs, get in touch!

Come aboard a scallop boat to learn why the fishing industry is at odds with the new push for offshore wind power on the Atlantic coast. This feature was broadcast on Marketplace Morning Report.
I co-produced and edited this two-hour radio special that looked back at the first three months of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how it changed every aspect of life in Connecticut. This piece won a CT SPJ Excellence in Journalism award.
Insurers use credit scores, college degrees and ZIP codes in setting rates for home and auto insurance. Advocates say it can result in proxy discrimination, with people of color in urban neighborhoods sometimes charged hundreds of dollars more for coverage than their suburban neighbors. This feature was broadcast on Marketplace Morning Report.
The little seaside town of Stonington has a storied reputation when it comes to one historic instrument. For the last 40 years, it's been a center of harpsichord production. I made this musical feature for WNPR, CT Public.
I have edited and produced two seasons of this magazine-style news podcast. The first season elevated the voices of people struggling to recover from the impacts of the pandemic in their financial lives, in education, from substance use, and returning from incarceration. The second season listened to young people about what makes them passionate about civic involvement and community-building.
I story edited two seasons of this climate crisis podcast for WSHU Public Radio. In the first, host J.D. Allen journeys around Long Island to document how its communities are adapting to climate change. This season won a National Academies Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communication in 2022. The second season centers the voices of middle schoolers in Connecticut's largest city who are researching their own ways to combat and adapt to climate change.
I wrote and co-produced this 12-episode podcast focused on parent wellbeing. When kids face emotional, behavioral, learning, or medical challenges the burden on parents can be overwhelming. Host Kendra Wilde brings together insights from leading experts and parents to provide support.
I story-edited the third season of the Philadelphia Eagles history podcast Return Game, focused on the career of legendary coach Dick Vermeil as he prepared to take his place in the Hall of Fame.
