About Ava

Currently, I’m producing an independent limited series podcast about the process of losing people and places through immigration, and the messiness of letting go. I’ve produced a series of audio montages for WUNC, WNCU and WPR via StoryCorps’ Military Voices Initiative, as well as similar work drawing on local voices for KVPR and KBSX. If you’d like to hear my full portfolio for StoryCorps, please get in touch with me at [email protected] I’m also the fact checker for “Do the Work,” a new podcast from Three Uncanny Four Productions and Sony Music about race and our personal relationships.

I hold a BA from New York University in Social and Cultural Analysis and have done research on memory, identity and cultures of storytelling in immigrant communities. Before working full-time in audio production, I was the Site Manager for StoryCorps’ Mobile Tour, where I travelled around the US with an Airstream Trailer-made-recording studio and oversaw a team of facilitators collecting stories on the ground. Prior to that, I spent several years at a human rights nonprofit where I served as a program coordinator.
