Asher is available for
Pretty much any task in audio production! I am a fast learner, a creative problem solver, a great collaborator, a talented composer, I have an ear for content, and I know my way around several DAWs. I think I'd be a valuable asset to your team."Have an idea for a podcast but no technical savvy? Got a story or a script you’d like to see brought to life as an audio drama or audiobook? Got a handle on things with your podcast and just need to outsource a task or two? You’re in the right place. Cicada Radio is a full service podcast production house, and we are at your service!"
Also fully able to perform audio syncs or anything else you might need.
Here's a list of services from my website:
Recording
You have a voice, we have microphones. And everything else needed to record your podcast.
We have a huge rolodex of highly talented local voice actors from diverse backgrounds that we can hire to read your scripts. Or whatever.
Editing
We will happily take a long, meandering recording and cut it down to a cohesive story arc.
But sometimes all you need is to have all the ‘uh’s and coughs taken out.
Sound Design & Music
We can create cinematic sound design with sound effects and scoring and onsite recording for your audio drama.
Or, a short jingle for the top of your podcast with some atmospheric sound peppered throughout.
Or anything in between
Mixing
Your podcast consists of quite a few moving parts. You’ve picked out music & soundbites; you’ve recorded and edited your interview and narration. You just need someone to put it all together…
And make it sound great!
Distribution
We can build a website to host and distribute your podcasts to all major platforms and podcatchers.
Whether that website has an audience-facing component or not is up to you.

About Asher
After I completed my graduate work in music composition and made a pivot away from formal music towards a greater interest in storytelling thru sound, I returned to New Orleans where I've worked as a freelance sound designer in live theater, an audio engineer for film and live events, a recordist, editor, composer, and producer (&c) since. During that time I've won two awards for sound design: Outstanding Sound Design from the Kennedy Center 2016 ACTF, and Best Play from the New Orleans Gambit’s 2019 Big Easy Awards.
In 2018 I founded my own audio media production house called Cicada Radio, a storytelling network focused on environmental justice, racial equity, and artistic expression. In addition to working on the company, I regularly work as a boom op/sound mixer for film and TV, I continue to do sound design for live theater, and perform audio syncs.
Asher's Portfolio
Six months after the death of their mother, three siblings and their father struggle to come to terms with their loss. When one of the siblings invites his girlfriend home to meet the family, she turns out to be just the spark needed to light up the combustible atmosphere of grief, anger, and regret. Family Photos and Other Moments of Naked Truth is a story of betrayal and forgiveness, viciousness and tenderness, denial and self-knowledge. And, like all good entertainment, it's got sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll.
The service industry is the most important economic engine in New Orleans, a town absolutely known for almost no other reason than her food and drink culture. Powerful restauratuers, famous chefs, and world-class bars make it into the spotlight with regularity, but what about the people who actually make and serve your food and drinks? Our hosts and producers, Anna Gowin and Jake Lewis, both experienced service industry workers themselves, decided to look into it. We talk to the dishwashers, the bartenders, the taxi drivers, and all the other knuckle draggers we can get to come on the show. As an incentive to our guests, we serve eggs! Any way you like them.
What makes a hit a hit? Why did a love affair between two rodents make it to the charts in 1973? And why did a Staples Singers cover by Bruce Willis outperform the original classic? In American 100 we’re gonna dive into the heart of the Billboard Hot 100, completely at random, and try to get to the bottom of what makes us love, hate, or just get addicted to pop songs. Featuring guest musicians and comedians, it’s funny, it’s informative, and just like the Hot 100 itself, a little bit weird. At the end of every episode a randomizer will pick the next week’s topic and we’ll go through the history, song structure, and (if necessary) quirkiness of these songs. Hosted by Micah McKee and presented by Cicada Radio, American 100 airs anywhere you like to listen to podcasts.

Creative Community League’s Artist Profile Series is a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process of local artists addressing the issues of sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice in their artwork. The podcast is hosted by Amy Irvin and Marcela Correa, and produced by Cicada Radio. Founded in 2020, Creative Community League utilizes cultural strategies for movement building, supporting artists, storytelling, and other dynamic community involvement in moving sexual and reproductive awareness into creative spaces.

Hosted by Ann McQueen, this show features monthly interviews with BIPOC storytellers, writers, filmmakers &c. Also, once a month, a new piece from the cohort of writers in No Dream Deferred's writers' workshop is produced as a short audio drama by professional actors, directors & sound designers.

A Podcast For the Sinking City Over fifty percent of this city is below sea level and possesses a network of 100 pumps to keep the city dry. It is the most complex and complete system of its kind in the entire world. Despite that fact, flooding continues to be a constant problem. Exacerbated by climate change and crumbling infrastructure, we see waters continue to rise even in neighborhoods never before at risk. Clearly, it’s time to update our systems for finding solutions, not just our existing capacity for drainage.
