Ariana Nedelman is the Executive Producer of the feminist production company Not Sorry. She co-created the show Harry Potter and the Sacred Text and currently produces Hot & Bothered and The Real Question, while overseeing all of the content that comes out of Not Sorry. She has her BA from the University of Chicago and enjoyed a brief stint at Harvard Divinity School before dropping out to become a full time podcaster. She's currently a student at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies.
In her spare time, Ariana is working on an audio project called When We All Get to Heaven, which tells the story of how a LGBTQ Christian congregation responded to the HIV/AIDS crisis in 1980s and 90s San Francisco.
This exhibit uses archival sound to tell the story of MCCSF and how it got through the height of the AIDS epidemic in the United States. It’s drawn from a collection of audio recordings made by MCCSF starting in 1987. In 2011, a long-time member told researcher Lynne Gerber about tapes he had stored under the floor in the church’s sound room. The collection of more than 1200 cassettes had been unknown to the rest of the congregation.
