About Amy
One of the most accomplished journalists, writers, and editorial leads in the podcasting business. With decades in audio journalism, I've made a habit of producing award-winning stories for each of the esteemed media organizations I've been a part of: NPR, Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting, and now Al Jazeera. I've won more than one Peabody, duPont Columbia, Robert F. Kennedy, and Edward R. Murrow awards. And while I love covering the globe, I also have a passion for digging deep. Give me a topic, and I'm pretty sure I can show you a different way to think about your world.
My big dream now is to find a new project of my own. I have some ideas up my sleeve. If you're interested in chatting about them - let me know. And if you're working on something in the international arena that would be better with some company, give me a shout too!

The announcement of Bill and Melinda Gates’ divorce isn't that recent anymore, but many people are still asking questions about the Foundation’s future. This isn't the first time. One development expert we spoke with claims AGRA, Bill Gates’ 20-year-old program to feed Africa through agriculture, failed. On this episode of The Take from Al Jazeera, we look at the Gates Foundation and AGRA and what went wrong.
What happens when you can’t go home? The city of Antakya, one of Turkey’s cultural centres, was levelled in the February 6 earthquakes. Thousands of people were killed, and the city is no longer recognisable to many who called it home. The government says rebuilding in the region is about to begin, but many residents are still trying to understand what they’ve lost.
More than 1,000 current and former employees of Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres, or MSF) have signed an open letter demanding that the aid organization root out its institutionally racist, colonialist, and white supremacist policies while examining its hiring practices and workplace culture.
A manager in the United States and a former supervisor in South Sudan talk to The Take about the discrimination and racism they have experienced and their colleagues’ fears about speaking out.
US officials are saying upwards of 4,000 Haitians were sent back to Haiti from the Texas border in 2021, but what happened next? Daniel left Haiti for Chile years ago. He finally made it to Texas. He says he was shackled, beaten and sent back to Haiti again. Today on The Take, what Daniel was hoping for and what happened in the end.

In 2016, the Justice Department alleged that Malaysian officials stole billions of dollars from their people and funneled some of it through the United States. Reveal teamed up with Washington D.C.’s public radio station, WAMU, to dig into one of the largest investigations ever by the Justice Department’s Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative. It’s a tale that features cameos from Leonardo DiCaprio, Donald Trump, the world’s largest yacht, a Malaysian playboy known for his lavish spending in New York nightclubs, and – as you might imagine – lots of Champagne.

This is how the story begins...
In the early 1960s, Carsten Ringsmose, Walther Juul Hansen, and Eva Kock Sørensen were part of a small group of idealistic young antinuclear activists living communally in a two-story house in the Danish island town of Odense.
“It was incredible,” Hansen recalled. “Ten, 15 times every month, we had planned things going on – poetry discussions, seminars, speeches from people who came from all over, authors, artists.” The rest is here -> https://revealnews.org/article/the-teachers-group-from-idealistic-commune-to-money-making-machine/
