About Allison

I am the Content Director at BirdNote, an independent, nonprofit media organization that makes vivid, sound-rich stories about birds and the challenges they face. BirdNote inspires listeners to care about the natural world — and take steps to protect it. Productions include BirdNote Daily, airing on over 250 public radio stations, Threatened, and Bring Birds Back.

I got a degree in Audio Production because I like to make mixtapes, and got into Community Radio because I like scrappy nonconformists. While at KDHX in St. Louis, Missouri, I produced shows for the air and podcasts. I also gained experience in live sound production, on-air hosting, board operation, mixing for video, event production, marketing, and web editing. I left KDHX to attend the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies. Subsequent freelance work included producing for independent podcasts like No Place Like Home, Generation Anthropocene, and IVFU.
