In its coverage of World AIDS Day, The Root encouraged readers to visit BeyondtheOdds.org, the site by, for, and about youth living with HIV, created by MQ2 grantee Anita Johnson. The Root is a popular daily news and commentary blog founded and edited by Harvard professor Henry Louis “Skip” Gates, Jr. The Root’s Kai Wright wrote, “For inspiration, check out Beyond the Odds, a multimedia arts project funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting that is giving young, creative folks a chance to talk about HIV. One of my favorite contributions is a video poem by a young Cuban American man named JoJo Napoles. Watch it, then add your own voice.” Congratulations, Anita!
